Traditional Thai massage

Traditional Thai massage (nuad thai) is a full-body massage that combines pressure along the body’s energy lines, stretching and passive yoga positions. It takes place on a mat on the floor, in comfortable clothing and without oils. At our salon in Šiška it lasts from 50 to 120 minutes.

How a Thai massage works

When you arrive, we give you comfortable clothes, so there is nothing to bring. The massage takes place on a special mat on the floor. The therapist uses palms, thumbs, elbows and feet: she follows the body’s energy lines with pressure and moves you into stretches and passive yoga positions.

The technique is more than two thousand years old and works with the body as a whole, not just individual muscles. That is why you feel not only relaxed muscles afterwards, but also greater mobility.

How strong is the massage

Thai massage is deep. On tight muscles you will feel the pressure, but it should never hurt. We adjust the intensity to you: just tell the therapist if you want it gentler or firmer.

After your first massage you may feel mild muscle tension, similar to after exercise. It passes within a day or two.

Who we recommend it for

Traditional Thai massage is most often chosen by:

  • people who sit a lot and feel stiffness in the back, neck or shoulders
  • athletes who want more mobility
  • anyone whose fatigue and stress stay in the muscles
  • those who prefer a massage where they stay dressed

How long to book

You can choose 50, 60, 70, 90 or 120 minutes. A longer massage means more time for each part of the body.

Variations of Thai massage

  • With warm herbs (50 or 70 minutes): we add heated herbal compresses to the traditional massage. The warmth and scent of the herbs deepen the relaxation.
  • With aromatic oils (50, 70 or 90 minutes): a gentler massage on the bare body under a towel, focused on relaxation.
  • UBON massage (90 or 120 minutes): the massage named after our salon. For details, call us at +386 41 999 980.

When Thai massage is not suitable

We advise against it with fever and acute infections, fresh injuries and fractures, inflamed veins, thrombosis, severe osteoporosis and right after surgery. For pregnant women we offer an adapted prenatal massage instead. If you have a chronic illness or heart and circulation problems, or take medication, consult your doctor before your visit.

Answers to the questions our clients ask most often before their first visit.

How much does a traditional Thai massage cost?

What should I wear for a Thai massage?

Nothing special. We give you comfortable clothes for the massage. We only recommend not eating a heavy meal right before and arriving a few minutes early.

What is the difference between Thai massage and oil massage?

Traditional Thai massage is dry: it is done in clothing, with stretching and deep pressure. Oil massage is gentler, done on the bare body under a towel, and focused on relaxation. For stiffness and tension we recommend Thai; to unwind, the oil massage.

Does Thai massage help with back pain?

Deep pressure and stretching release tight muscles and can ease back, neck and shoulder pain caused by sitting or stress. For focused work on the back we also offer a back massage. With acute injuries or chronic pain, consult a doctor first.
